What an opener for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Barcelona as he scores a hat- trick against Catalans opponent.
Barcelona’s pursuit for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seems to be a good move as he opened his goal account for the club with a hat-trick as the Catalans beat Valencia 4-1 at the Mestalla.
The former Arsenal striker who last scored a goal in October while he was still at England in the game between the Gunners and Aston Villa, struck the net tonight twice in the first half, either side of Frenkie De Jong’s tap-in, as Barca moved into the top four of LaLiga.
Aubameyang raced onto Jordi Alba’s through ball to give Barcelona a 23rd-minute lead with a fine finish.
Pedri had initially taken the praise for restoring Barcelona’s three-goal advantage after Carlos Soler’s header had given Valencia hope, but Pierre-Emerick was later adjudged to have got the final touch.
The win pushed Barca up to the fourth position with 42 points out of 24 games played, making the Catalans tie with Atletico who are ranking fifth with goal difference.
“We are beginning to find that efficiency that we were lacking earlier this season ,” Captain Sergio Busquets told reporters.
“I hope Aubameyang is that one piece that we were missing up front. He is a great player that arrived hungry because he was not getting many opportunities at his former club. It is a luxury having him in our team.”
