The former Catholic Bishop of Umuahia and Apostolic Administrator of Ahiara Diocese, Most Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, has officially been appointed the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Diocese.
The announcement was made on Sunday by Archbishop Antonio Filipazzi, Apostolic Nuncio (Representative of the Pope in Nigeria) during the ongoing First Plenary meeting of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria in Abuja.
With the appointment, Ugorji replaces Archbishop Anthony l Obinna who has been in that position since March 26 1994.
Following the administration, priestly and episcopal functions of Archbishop Lucius Ugorji, he has been a faithful servant of God serving both God and Humanities at various levels.
Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji is currently 70years of Age as he was born in 13 Jan. 1952. Archbishop Lucius Ugorji was ordained a catholic priest when he was 25years old in April 16th, 1977. He was appointed the Bishop of Umuahia Diocese when he was 38years on the 1st day July, 1990. Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji was officially appointed the Apostolic Administrator of Ahiara Diocese when he was 66year old on the 19th day of February, 2018. With his numerous works and achievements, Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji has officially been appointed the new Archbishop of Owerri Arch Diocese to succeed Archbishop Anthony l Obinna.
